The manuscript
Write in one continuous book, not a pile of files.
Sections preserve the shape of your project while Draft view keeps the act of writing fluid. You can move from front matter to chapters to back matter without exporting anything in between.
Draft view
Choose View → Draft when you want a continuous reading surface. Headings, paragraphs, hard page breaks, notes, and section boundaries remain part of the book model, so the final pages can be recomposed later.
Sections are production units
A section can be a chapter, title page, dedication, contents page, appendix, or other intentional piece of the volume. The navigator preserves reading order and matter type—front matter, body, or back matter—so numbering and publishing behavior can remain predictable.
- Open the Book ribbon and choose Add to book.
- Choose the section kind and matter group.
- Give it a working title. The title can be changed later and remains part of the structure.
- Use the navigator arrows to move it within its reading order.
Breaks and invisible structure
When a page break, section break, or other hard boundary matters, OYAMA Scribe marks it in Draft view with a quiet inline adorner. The marker is intentionally visible while editing and absent from exports. This gives you a reliable explanation for a new page without turning the manuscript into a forest of formatting symbols.
Use a hard break when the book needs a physical boundary. Use a new section when the content has its own title, matter, layout, or numbering behavior.
Find, replace, and spelling
Find and Replace searches the manuscript without forcing you to flatten the book first. The Review tools keep spelling and paragraph controls close to the active selection.
