Your manuscript stays local, with a safety net.
OYAMA Scribe is local-first. Your project file, AutoSave, recovery copy, and publishing work happen on your Windows machine unless you explicitly choose an export or upload.
Recovery protection
When a project is dirty, the app periodically writes a recovery snapshot under your local application data folder. The recovery indicator in the status bar tells you whether protection is on, pending, saving, or unavailable.
If the app restarts after an interrupted session, it compares the recovery snapshot with the last saved project and offers to restore it. Restoration opens the recovered work as unsaved so your last explicit save remains safe until you choose what to keep.
What is exported
Exports contain the manuscript and the production data appropriate to that format. Screen-only review aids—such as the Blank page label and Draft break markers—are never included in PDF, DOCX, EPUB, print, or other exported output.
Privacy
Read the full policy in Privacy Policy. The short version: the writing project is stored locally, and network access is limited to actions you initiate or the update check described in this documentation.
Keep a second copy of important .oyama projects in your normal backup system. Recovery protects against interrupted sessions; it is not a replacement for backups.
