Read the book as a physical sequence.
Proofing is where layout choices become visible: page sides, binding, running furniture, blank pages, and the rhythm from one spread to the next.
Page Proof
Page Proof renders fixed pages at the active trim size. Use it for line endings, chapter openings, running heads, footers, folios, page breaks, and visual density. The proof is composed from the same book structure used by publishing.
Spread Proof
Choose View → Facing or Spread Proof to see recto and verso together. The binding gutter, inside margin, outside edge, and page furniture can be checked as a pair rather than as isolated pages.
Manuscript Overview
The Overview is a contact sheet of the whole manuscript in two-page spreads. Spreads reveal themselves progressively while the book is being composed, and repeated refreshes are debounced so edits do not freeze the window. Hover a spread for a larger floating preview, or click it to open that spread in proofing.
Blank pages are intentional when they are explained
Whenever the book needs a blank page—for example, to keep a chapter on the recto—proof views show a Blank page label. It is a screen-only review label. It does not appear in PDF, DOCX, EPUB, print, or other exports.
First scan the Overview for rhythm and accidental emptiness. Then inspect the first spread, every chapter opening, pages with notes or tables, and the final spread in Page Proof.
